Local Activities
Here you can find out what activities are going on in the local area during your stay at the cottages. Events for the current month are displayed below, but you can select any date from the calendar in the upper right to see what's going on at that time.
And even when there aren't any scheduled events, there is always something to do and places to go in our community, all just a very short distance away.

Some things to do & places to go in Portugal Cove-St. Philips:
- Take in the breathtaking panoramic view of Conception Bay as you stroll along the walking path through the grassy cliffs along the rugged seashore that leads to St. Philips salt water beach & marina, 1/2 KM away. Here you can stop to enjoy a great "scoff" (meal) of some of the best fish and chips on the Avalon at By the Beach Restaurant while taking in the ocean view and fragrance of the clean ocean air. Relax after your meal with a little stroll along the waters edge.
- Launch your boat and/or sea doo or scuba dive, sea kayak, etc. from St. Philips Marina - 1/2 KM away. (Sorry, we do not supply water crafts or equipment).
- Take a Parasail ride offered at St. Philips Marina during the summer season.

- The kids will have great fun at our playground, skate board park, and ball field - 6 KM away.
- The whole family will enjoy our popular sandy fresh water beach where you can swim, sunbathe, waterski, canoe, kayak, etc. (must provide your own water crafts and equipment) - 7 KM away.
- Take a 7 min. drive and take the ferry ride (vehicle and passenger)to Bell Island where you can tour the iron oar mine and beautiful light house. The long sandy and pebble beaches are again perfect departure areas for sea kayaking, scuba diving and various watercrafts. (Again, you must provide your own water crafts and equipment). - Attend a church service at St. Philips Anglican Church just moments away or attend any of our other 3 churches, Anglican, United, or Catholic, located just 7 minutes away in Portugal Cove.
- Enjoy the true taste of Newfoundland cousine at The Beachy Cove Cafe or indulge in fine dining at The Atlantica Restaurant, both situated overlooking the Bell Island Ferry Dock in Portugal Cove - 10 KM.
